Book our pet transportation service

Although booking this service is completely free, we recommend requesting it at least 48 hours before your flight, as it requires booking specific seats on our planes. Before proceeding with your booking, please review this page for complete information on rules and requirements per country and bear in mind that the service we provide is subject to certain acceptance criteria and conditions:

Rules and requirements per country

Depending on the flight's origin and destination, the pet's breed and where it will be traveling on the plane (cabin or hold), there are specific rules and health requirements to be complied with, as well as mandatory documentation you must provide, for non-commercial pet transportation within and outside the European Union (EU):

Transporting pets in the cabin

Weight and size

Maximum total weight: 8 kg / 17 lbs (pets + carrier).

Maximum size: 45 x 30 x 23 cm / 18 x 12 x 9 in (width x length x height).

To ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers and pets aboard our aircraft, certain mandatory conditions must be met. TAP reserves the right to refuse the transportation of your pet in the cabin, and to transfer it to the aircraft's hold, if it determines that all necessary conditions have not been met.

Transporting pets in the aircraft's hold

Maximum total weight

Up to 32 kg / 70 lbs on flights to, from, or with a stopover in the US, Hungary, France and the Netherlands, or up to 45 kg / 99 lbs for other destinations (pets + carrier).

To ensure the safety and well-being of pets in the aircraft's hold, certain mandatory conditions must be met. We do not endorse the use of tranquilizers or sedatives, as they can cause a drop in blood pressure and be fatal to pets. TAP reserves the right to refuse the transportation of your pet in the aircraft's hold if it determines that all necessary conditions have not been met.

Transporting pets as cargo

If the total weight exceeds 32 kg / 70 lbs on flights to, from, or with a stopover in the United States, Hungary, France or the Netherlands, or 45 kg / 99 lbs for other destinations, please contact TAP Air Cargo.
