To travel to Canada, or simply transit through the country, the documents required may vary depending on your nationality and the purpose and duration of your trip. Therefore, in addition to a valid passport, you must also hold a Visa or an eTA.
The eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a document issued by the Government of Canada that confirms a traveler's eligibility to enter the country and applies to Visa-exempt foreign nationals. Travelers who already have a Visa and US citizens do not need this document.
To obtain this trip authorization, you must complete the online form available on the website belonging to the Government of Canada complete the online form available on the website belonging to the Government of Canada # and pay a fee. Without the authorization, entry into the country is not permitted. Once applied for and approved, the eTA is electronically associated with your passport and is valid for up to five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. During this period, you will be able to make multiple entries into Canada.
We advise you to purchase your eTA in advance and before booking your flight to Canada. Although approval is given via email within minutes, there are some requests that may take several days to be processed.
Where the Visa is concerned, this document may be necessary in other types of situations.
