To travel with the musical instrument next to you, in the airplane cabin, you must book an extra seat for the instrument.

The maximum weight allowed for transportation in the cabin is 30 kg / 66.13 Ibs. The maximum dimensions allowed are: 155x42x25 on the cabin's floor or 110x42x50 on top of the seat.

To book the transport of musical instruments in the cabin, you must contact our Contact Center , at least 72 hours in advance of the flight, in order to guarantee the proper accommodation of your musical instrument.

In certain situations, in the case of large musical instruments, you may need to book more than one extra seat. For safety reasons, this decision will be the airline’s.

Important information

To travel with the musical instrument next to you in the aircraft cabin, you must book an extra seat for the instrument (you can book through the TAP Contact Center, TAP service counters or Travel Agencies).
The refund for this service depends on the fare, rules applicable to the extra seat purchased.
This service is only available on flights operated by TAP or operated in its name and by TAP Express.

The passenger must adequately prepare the musical instrument for the trip;
When transporting it as checked baggage, it must be packed in a rigid container, specifically designed for the shipping of this type of baggage;
Musical instruments can be included in the free baggage allowance, provided they are within the permitted weight and size limits;
The packed instrument must not exceed 45 kg / 99 lbs;
If the trip destination is, or involves a stopover in the USA, Hungary, France, United Kingdom, Ireland or the Netherlands, the weight limit is 32 kg / 70 lbs;
The maximum dimensions are 190 cm x 75 cm x 65 cm (75 in x 30 in x 26 in);
If your musical instrument exceeds these dimensions and / or weight, it must be transported as cargo.

We recommend that you find out the weight and measurements for transport in the hold when booking or at least 24 hours before the flight.

You can check the price for transporting musical instruments applicable to your trip while making your booking and, subsequently, in the Manage your Booking area on flyTAP (flytap.com). Prices may vary depending on the type of extra service, the purchase channel*, how much time in advance it was made, the date of the trip, as well as the origin and destination.

*Purchase channel: flyTAP (during the booking process, or, after booking, in the Manage your Booking area), Online Check-in, Kiosks and Counters at the airport, TAP Contact Center and Travel Agencies.

For transactions conducted outside Europe that use different local currencies, the service amount will be converted from the USD fixed price to the local currency (except Canada).

Important information

Musical instruments can be included in the hold baggage accepted free of charge, as long as they are within the limits of number of pieces, weight and dimensions allowed by the fare you purchased.
Confirm the baggage that you can carry in the aircraft's hold, according to your fare, destination or TAP Miles&Go Status.
Fees shall be applicable, at the airport, to any hold baggage that exceeds the limits of number of pieces, weight and dimensions allowed by the fare. These fees are non-refundable.
During or after the booking process (flytap.com, TAP Contact Center, TAP service counters or Travel Agencies) the musical instrument can be added as an extra service.
The price of this service is non-refundable, even when the Upgrade service is purchased (either through auction or fixed price, with cash or miles). However, if, at the passenger's request, the original fare is changed after the purchase of this service, and the ticket is reissued on a business cabin fare that already includes this service, a refund can be requested. In this situation, the musical instrument must be within the limits on number of pieces, weight and dimensions permitted by the business cabin fare.
Payment for this extra service with miles is possible during or after the booking process, through flyTAP - Book a flight, the Manage your Booking area or the TAP Contact Center.
This service is only available on flights operated by TAP or operated in its name and by TAP Express.
