Offering the best for our youngest passengers
How to book a ticket
Before booking a ticket, be aware that each adult can travel with a maximum of one baby under 2 years of age.
To book the ticket, you must:
- Access the page for bookings and choose the origin and destination of the flight.
- In the “passengers” field, add the number of children or babies to your booking. The total booking price will include the adult ticket and the child or baby ticket.
Seats on board
- Children up to 2 years old: may travel on an adult's lap, or occupy a seat provided that they have an approved car seat (see conditions here) placed on the aircraft's seat. To do this you have to buy a child ticket.
- Between 2 and 12 years old: the child must occupy a seat.
Check the baggage allowance
Children from 2 to 11 years of age may travel in Economy Class with one personal item and one piece of hand baggage, or in Business Class with one personal item and two pieces of cabin baggage, on flights to/from Europe, Africa, South America or domestic flights. If you are traveling with children between the ages of 2 and 5, you may also carry a child safety seat free of charge as long as it is used on board.
Babies under 2 years of age do not have a hand baggage allowance; however, if you are traveling with a baby in this age group, you may carry items that are essential for use during the flight as hand baggage, depending on the duration of the flight.

Children from 2 to 11 can travel with a hold bag.
Babies under 2 can transport a 10Kg1 hold bag (as long as the sum of the 3 dimensions does not exceed 115cm / 45in) and also a fully foldable baby stroller, child seat or basket.

Baby strollers
If you prefer to carry the (fully foldable) stroller in the hold, you can do so free of charge if you travel with a child up to 5 years old.
Do you need more baggage?
Do your online check-in and that of your family during the 36 hours before boarding, via our website or app and save time at the airport by avoiding check-in queues. Later, you can print your boarding passes or carry them on your cell phone and at the airport you will only have to check in your hold baggage, if applicable.
If you are traveling with children up to 5 years old, you can board first so that you have more time to settle the whole family and pack your things. You can take the baby stroller to the boarding gate, making it easier to transport your personal items and keeping your baby comfortable.
If necessary, the reduced mobility assistance service will be available to help.
Waiting time can be tiresome for babies and children. To help time run faster, we suggest taking your children for a walk through the airport. There are little things that can fascinate them: take them to the windows to watch the airplanes land and take off or the baggage being unloaded; take a walk on the moving walkways or, if you prefer to run and play, visit the children's areas that some airports have available.
Meals and entertainment
- Something that makes them feel comfortable, like a blanket or a stuffed toy.
- Toys to keep them entertained during the trip.
TAP offers special meals for babies and children, however, the request must be made at the time of booking. See all meal options.
You can take with you all the food you need, in quantities appropriate for the trip duration, except water, which can be requested on board and heated by the flight crew. When passing through security at the airport, you may be asked to taste the food (soup, yogurt, jar of fruit) being transported.
To keep the little ones entertained, we have animated films, series and a music channel dedicated to children on board our airplanes. There will be so much entertainment that they won't even notice the time fly by. Find out more about inflight entertainment.
But the fun doesn't end here! On intercontinental flights there are offers for children and baby kits. At the end of any trip, the little ones are also entitled to a flight baptism certificate.
